BOOM!! The schedule is out and we’re super excited about some of the really exciting workshops we’re having at Coastella this year!! Check out the details of the songwriting circle, ukulele workshop and luthier workshop below.
Songwriting Circle with Ebony Lamb, Mundy, Samuel Scott and Warren Maxwell
1:15PM – 2:00PM – Southwards Auditorium
Four incredible songwriters with enough hits between them to take out David Tua. Meet our guests Ebony Lamb (Eb & Sparrow), Mundy (Ireland), Samuel Scott (The Phoenix Foundation) and Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots). They’ve had songs featured on films from Romeo and Juliet to Hunt for the Wilderpeople and cover genres from rock to pop, country to dub, reggae to indie. In this songwriting circle (given they we are at a car museum) they are going to sing a song featuring a car and another song inspired by a location. See and hear these legends up close and personal.
Ukulele Workshop with The Nukes
1:15PM – 2PMPM – Bentley Room
BYO uke and get an intimate workshop with world famous Ukulele band “The Nukes” who come rollicking and rolling out of the woolliest corners of Auckland’s wild west. In the 45 min workshop, you will learn a couple of their original songs for which you can then join in with them at their gig later on in the day. A song sheet will be provided and people of all levels welcome!
Luthier Workshop with Paddy Burgin, Tony Francis and Dave Gilberd
3:00PM – 3:45PM – Bentley Room
Two expert Wellington based guitar makers, who collectively have their instruments played by Sinead O’Connor, David Linley and Warren Maxwell (to name just a small few), chat about some of the challenges, triumphs, clients, materials, ethereals, tones, bones, woods, woulds, shoulds and coulds of making instruments and show off some of their prized works.
